Annette and I talk about nature and how that has spoken to her. We also discuss how she writes books in terms of time-management and also what she draws from to write the books she writes. We also look at her philosophy of education and how and why she homeschools. Annette reminds us of the goodness of Christian life.

A Distant Prospect and By Violence Unavenged can be bought at the following link:

The ‘big walk’ Anette talks about is the Overland track.

1 Corinthians 13:1–3

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Trigger Warning: Amber talks about her mental illness and shares some of her writing about when she attempted suicide.

Mental illness is something that none of us want to confront. But one in five Australians experience a mental or behavioural condition so it’s something that we really need to come to terms with.

Amber suffers from depression and psychosis. She has chosen to share her story with us to help us to understand how to help and be there for people who have these kinds of issues. She is very clear about what she suffers but I’m very grateful to her for sharing. Amber tells us about how her creative writing helps her to deal with her illness.

Whether you’re suffering from this kind of illness or not, I pray that each of us grows in our understanding, mental health, and ability to support each other.

This is the second half of the interview with my Dad. We start in the USA and then come back home to Tasmania to talk about Dad’s ministry in the Anglican church. We also discuss Dad’s depression and how he realised he needed to be real about that with his congregation and how important that was.

We see many more instances of God’s faithfulness and his love for his people.

I am taking a break from the podcast for a little while but there will be more interviews shortly. Make sure you’re subscribed so that you see us pop up when I’m back.

For more on CPAF and the performing arts festival you can listen to the interview with Mum (Roslyn) or go to https://masterworksfestival.org/

Today’s guest is John Langlois, my dad! He shares with us his story, starting with the difficult school days, and healing from that, and going on to some stories of time in ministry, first at Beth Shalom, then at Clarendon Children’s Homes, and then some stories from YWAM times.

This is the first half of the interview, and next week we will have some more amazing stories of God’s faithfulness.

CEBS is the Church of England Boys Society. That, along with the GFS (Girls Friendly Society) were the youth ministries of the Anglican church back in the day.

YWAM.org and SBS is the School of Biblical Studies. We talk about that, Dad also mentions the DTS (Discipleship Training School – YWAM’s entry school) and the SoE (School of Evangelism).
