Today is a slightly different podcast. It’s very close to Christmas, and we just don’t need to think productivity right now. Not as we head into this holiday. So instead of a productivity podcast today, I want to give you a gift.
When I started this podcast, I interviewed a whole lot of people about their lives. The interviews are there on the website ruthamos.com.au/podcast feel free to listen to them. People shared some really deep things about why and how they do what they do in their lives, and also about their relationship with God.
Christmas is, for me, first and foremost a holy day where I remember that God gave us his son Jesus. So I thought that to celebrate Christmas this year, I would let some of my previous guests share with us what it is about God and the church that they wish everyone knew.
I’m starting with Michelle. Michelle has moved to Tasmania from South Africa and you will get to hear her beautiful accent. When I asked her what she wished that everyone knew about God and Christianity she wanted to share just how inclusive the church is.
The church worldwide is made up of ordinary human beings trying their best to please the God we worship and to help each other out. You are very welcome to join us in our incompleteness, mess and failure. In community we become something more than what we are alone.
Next, we hear from Sean from the United States of America. He takes a more big-picture view. We can all have our ideas about God, but really, none of us has the whole story.
You can find who God is in the Gospels. If you haven’t met God yet, or if you’re not sure that your picture is correct despite years of being in the church, pick up a copy of Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. Pray and ask God to show himself to you. And have a read. And as Sean says, you might find that you are known as well, not just that you know, but that you are known and fully loved.
Finally today we are going to hear from Marion. Marion was brought up in the church from infancy and sometimes we can get that black-and-white picture of God when that happens. We can think that everyone should know God like we do. But Marion says it’s not quite that simple.
That’s my Christmas gift to you. I hope you’ve enjoyed hearing from Marion, Sean and Michelle.
The next couple of podcasts are going to be less productivity based and more interview style, as I’m taking a break for the month of January, but we’ll get back to normal in February. Even so, if you want to drop me a line, feel free. You can email ruth@ruthamos.com.au, find me on twitter @aquietlifeblog or on facebook at Ruth Amos Author. I’d love to hear from you. Or if you think someone else would enjoy this podcast, feel free to pass it on.
Have a delightful Christmas and I’ll chat to you again soon.
