Catherine moved to Australia from the Gambia in West Africa to study building and construction. She was the only female in a class of sixty and suffered from the racist and sexist comments and behaviour of the others in her class. But she hung in there and God has rewarded her.

Now she works as a project controller, and she also writes, dances, and is an actor. Catherine is full of life, and full of the good things God has done for her and it was a joy to interview her. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the interview too.

Catherine’s blog is: A Lady for my King (website and magazine)https://aladyformyking.com/

She is writing a book called Beyond the Shadows that will be launched in October.

The award she won was the African Australian Women in Leadership Award. A national award organised by Africa Media Australia.

Psalm 84:11 ‘For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.’ NIV

Psalm 139:16 ‘Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.’ NIV

John 15:16 ‘You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.’ NIV

Luke 22:42 ‘“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”’ NIV

Kath is all about community. It comes out in everything she shares in this interview. She talks about sharing in Indigenous communities in the red centre, about creating community in the school where she works as chaplain, and in the community where she lives and is planting a church. She tells us how important community was to her when her beautiful son Tom was spending his last days here on earth.

Kath shares with us also a lesson that I felt I really needed to learn about grief. Tom passed away almost ten years ago, but Kath still feels that grief daily. Not in a tragic way that has stopped her from living, but somehow Kath manages to bring Tom and his smile and his amazing faith into her daily life. Her grief is not something to ‘get over’ but something to weave into the day-to-day aspects of life.

Megan and I have been friends for a long time. I knew her story and I wanted to share it with you. It was also great to hear about what she’s doing now in communications, how she writes for a living, and how she uses her gifts to be part of a larger mechanism of giving Jesus’ love to the community and to the world.

Matthew 28:20 b ‘And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’ NIV

Colossians 3:23–24 ‘Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.’ NIV

Psalm 23:4 ‘Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and you’re staff, they comfort me.’ NIV

Julie shares with us about her life that went from a place of rebellion and hardship, through a really tough time of studying as a single mum, to the place she is now where she can say, ‘God is so good to me.’ She talks of God’s provision and mercy and how she now uses that witness in her job as a psychologist.

Romola is not someone who puts herself forward. In fact, I think she’s happiest serving quietly in the background. I think I must have been very pathetic when I asked because she relented and agreed to come on my podcast. And I’m so glad she did. Her stories of what God is doing through her quiet witness working as a midwife are powerful.

We talk about the joy when things go well, and the sorry when things go badly in childbirth, and how God has given her several divine appointments where she was truly able to speak into peoples’ lives.

And we talk about a special time in her life when she knew that God was very close to her.

I’m sure you’ll be blessed by listening.

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

John Zeckendorf shot to fame by being the first Tasmanian to climb Mt Everest. He has talked in many venues about his experiences, but I wanted to learn more about the rest of his life.

John tells us how breaking up your relationship with a non-Christian may just be the way to bring them to Christ.

We talk about witnessing to Jewish people, witnessing in the workplace, and praying those special conversations in to being. And we also talk about the many ways that mountain climbing is a metaphor for life.

Romans 7:19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.
