Transcribing this interview nearly brought me to tears. Josh shares his conversion story, his thoughts on his time in India, and his internship experience at our church. He also shares about where he holds his personal worth and how that helps him through at university.

https://settingcaptivesfree.com/ A website and organisation about freedom from addictions and purity.

ChildSafe: www.childsafe.org.au This is the training that our youth leaders go through to make sure that the children and vulnerable people of our church are kept safe.

This is a picture of a sinusoidal function and the blue line is where Josh was talking about the derivative being zero. (Just for completeness, the derivative is zero on the bottom of the curve as well, but that was probably happening at a different time in the day.)

KAOS was the name of the day camp for children prep to grade 6 age that was held in the most recent school holidays at our church. Treehouse is the Sunday school for grades 7-8 where they unpack the sermon together over a snack.

Rosina talks to us about nursing her husband through Alzheimer’s and we also discuss introversion. It’s a discussion about being pushed to a place where you depend totally on God.

A small correction: Rosina and Ted were married for 22 years (not 15 like she said under pressure in the interview)

I think we need some notes from the intro today, just for something different.

Global leadership summit:

Danny Meyer the 5 ‘A’s of mistakes – be aware, acknowledge, apologise, act on it, apply additional generosity.

Rasmus Ankerson – look at the underlying reasons of both success and failure

David Livermore – cultural intelligence, it’s more complicated than just curiosity and knowledge. Diversity only equals innovation when you have some cultural intelligence

Carla Harris – bring your whole self to the table. You don’t need it all on display at the same time but you need it to be there in case it’s needed.

Simon Sinek – finite and infinite games – google it.

Craig Groeschel – practice anticipating the future so you can anticipate rather than react

Cannon J John – here’s one link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cETa0HpK_Q

I said that the kids’ spots for our church are often on www.StClementsKingston.org.au but they are more likely to be on https://www.facebook.com/stclementskingston/

Sean talks about the podcast daily audio bible with Brian Hardin. The website is https://dailyaudiobible.com/ and watch the video, it’s the absolute cutest thing!

Sean mentions doing the actions to songs with the KAOS kids. We had recently had a day camp with kids at our church through the school holidays and the camp was called KAOS. I think it was chaos too, but heaps of fun!

It was wonderful to have a good laugh with Sean, and at some points to want to cry, and to just hear how God has been working in his life.

Sue talks to us about her life as she went from a place of brokenness to wholeness through, ‘a lot of good teaching, and a lot of healing, and a lot of good people around you to help you’. It was so great to listen in the first place and then to transcribe the interview and get more of this wisdom. I think you’ll probably want to listen more than once.

Sue mentions many things that you might want to look into so I’ve added as many links as possible below:

Sue mentions the fruit of the Spirit which comes from this bible verse: ’But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.’ Galatians 5: 22-23 (NIV)

The bible verse about Paul’s thorn in the flesh is this one: ’But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”’  2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

Sarah shares with us very bravely and openly her struggle with mental health and her diagnosis with Autism. She shares some deep wisdom with us about relationship, service, and discipline.

Sarah mentions the verse Hebrews 12:11 ‘No discipline is pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.’

She also mentions a sermon which can be found at stclementskingston.org.au/teaching and the particular sermon was on the 5th August 2018.
